People in this world seem either to be organised or disorganised; tidy or messy. And given that opposites attract, husbands and wives inevitably seem to be at opposite ends of that spectrum. It’s enough to drive anyone crazy!
Now, full disclaimer here … my Germanic upbringing and ten years in the military have conspired to make me ultra-organised and ultra-tidy. So you can imagine how aghast I was when I saw that a work colleague of mine had hundreds of emails in his inbox.
Why hadn’t he organised them into logical, easy-to-access folders? Well, even though he’s organised in other parts of his life he’s not particularly technology-oriented, so it hadn’t occurred to him. And – here’s the rub – it was causing him a lot of stress when he’d look for something he knew was there, but couldn’t find it.
That’s the bottom line. Being disorganised is stressful. And who doesn’t need some of the stress taken out of their lives?
1 Corinthians 13:33,40 God is not a God of confusion but a God of peace. This is the rule for all the meetings of God’s people … everything should be done in a way that is right and orderly.
Now, to be sure, that was written in the context of taking the stress out of running a meeting. But the principle remains.
God is not a God of confusion but a God of peace … everything should be done in a way that’s right and orderly.
Be it the top drawer in your bedside table, your finances or your life, do yourself a favour. Reduce your stress. Get organised.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
