Something that I’ve never understood is why people turn to a life of crime when the consequences, if they’re caught, are imprisonment and in some places, much worse. Do you get it? I don’t.

The financial turnover of organised crime globally is estimated to be over $2 trillion US dollars a year. The Globalised Organised Crime Index recently reported that 83% of the world’s population lives in areas with high criminality.

Staggering … but I guess, there’s your answer. They’re in it for the money. And worse still, these vast criminal enterprises seem to operate with impunity, destroying countless lives year after year.

Let’s bring this all a bit closer to home. Perhaps you know people who behave badly, who’re dishonest or treat others appallingly, and again, they seem to keep getting away with it. But they won’t get away with it forever – something that Adam and Eve discovered when they disobeyed God way back in the Garden of Eden.

Genesis 3:17-19 Then God said to the man, “I commanded you not to eat from that tree. But you listened to your wife and ate from it. So I will curse the ground because of you. You will have to work hard all your life for the food the ground produces. The ground will grow thorns and weeds for you. And you will have to eat the plants that grow wild in the fields. You will work hard for your food, until your face is covered with sweat. You will work hard until the day you die, and then you will become dust again. I used dust to make you, and when you die, you will become dust again.”

Friend, as much as He loves you, remember … God is watching and sooner or later there will be consequences.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
