I think that most of us want to do good in this world, don’t we? Oh, I know, so many things get in the way of that – our emotions, our innate selfishness, those tough times. And yet still, we hope to be remembered for having done good.

Not everyone wants to do good, of course. Underworld crime bosses, despotic dictators, warlords and the like – they don’t wake up every morning thinking, “Now, how can I impact this world for good today? Whom can I bless?”

But I’m pretty sure that, deep down, you’re someone who wants to do good, even if it’s not always front of mind. But as previously noted, this whole “doing good” thing is tough. That’s why, in the pursuit of goodness, we often feel so alone, so incapable of goodness, given what the world’s thrown at us today.

But here’s the good news – you’re not in this alone. There’s a floodtide of power available to you in your pursuit of goodness:

John 7:37-39 On that day Jesus stood up and said loudly, “Whoever is thirsty may come to me and drink. If anyone believes in me, rivers of living water will flow out from their heart. That is what the Scriptures say.” Jesus was talking about the Spirit.

Those rivers of living water He’s talking about … that’s an abundant overflow of God’s Spirit, God’s power, God’s goodness, flowing out of you into the parched, dry, hurting lives of those around you.

When you trust in Jesus, you definitely don’t have to go it alone.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
