As you look around at the leaders in this world, bluster and bravado seem to be something of a stock in trade, don’t they? Even within your own circle, there are doubtless those who’re absolutely convinced that they are God’s gift to the universe.
I have a confession to make. I used to be one of those people. Yes, with a higher-than-average IQ, a quick tongue, and seemingly boundless energy … in my own mind, I was superior to the average punter.
How ugly that must have seemed to those around me. But eventually, we all come to the realisation that we’re not perfect … at least, we should.
How about you? Is there even a little bit of that pride lurking somewhere deep inside? Just in case it, listen up:
Romans 3:22-24 God makes people right through their faith in Jesus Christ. He does this for all who believe in Christ. Everyone is the same. All have sinned and are not good enough to share God’s divine greatness. They are made right with God by his grace. This is a free gift. They are made right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ.
Did you pick it? Everyone’s the same. We’ve all fallen short. The ground at the foot of the Cross of Christ, where He gave His life to pay for our falling short, is level ground. We all have a common need for uncommon grace.
We’re made right with God only by his grace through Jesus Christ. This is a free gift … so that none of us can boast.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
