Over the weekend, Lucy’s daughter Shiloh turned 11, a milestone that stirred up more than just birthday excitement. In between the sushi, shopping, and celebrations, Lucy took a moment to write her a letter. Not just any letter, but one filled with words she hoped her daughter would carry into every season of life.

It was a gentle reminder that she never has to shrink herself to fit in, that she is free to take up space in the world, and that she is deeply loved exactly as she is.

When Lucy shared the letter on air, the response was overwhelming. Listeners called and texted, many saying the words struck a chord with them as parents, as adults, and even as the children they once were. Some felt inspired to write their own letters, to their kids, to their partners, or even to their younger selves. Others simply said hearing it felt like balm for the soul, a reminder they didn’t know they needed.

Like this text : “Lucy, thank you! I have never felt so seen as I did listening to you this morning. As a 40 year old woman, I have always always done what I could to fit in to the point where I only recently realised that I have totally lost myself. In work, relationships and as a mum, I have always done what I think I was supposed to. Thank you so much, I can’t tell you what this means to me…”

What began as Lucy’s reflection became something bigger: a shared moment of truth we all long for. That we are loved. That we are seen. And that we don’t need to make ourselves smaller in order to belong.

And maybe that’s the invitation for all of us today. To pause for a moment. To reflect. To write a note, whisper a word of encouragement, or simply take a breath and notice the beauty of where we are. Whether it’s for your kids, someone you love, or even for yourself, it might just be the reminder that makes today a little brighter.
