It’s a fact of life that you can be absolutely certain of something – certain to the core – until something comes along and pulls the rug out from under your feet, causing you to question everything you were once so sure of.

The truth is that we take a lot for granted – your health for instance. Everything’s going along fine. Okay … maybe you don’t feel a hundred precent but you’re pretty confident that you’ll be fine today, tomorrow, the next day.

And then all of a sudden something happens – for many (as happened to me) a heart attack … or a stroke, or cancer, or some other thing that not only casts a cloud of uncertainty over your future but throws your very life into peril.

As much as we take so many things for granted, there are, in point of fact, very few things that are certain. But this one thing, I can tell you, is absolutely rock solid:

Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments. (NIV)

A covenant is an unbreakable contract penned by God and signed in the blood of Jesus, His Son. If you’re going to put your trust, your confidence, in anything, in anyone, put it in Him, and honour Him with your life … because He will keep His covenant, His contract, His promise of eternal life with you and those who come after you.

Know this! God is a faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
