Eighteen-year-old Kai Seymon grew up listening to Lucy & Kel on The Light and recently joined the Brekky show with an update to his story that’s nothing short of inspiring.

Kai, who is autistic and dyslexic, founded Kaiko Fidgets with his mum Jo in 2017 after being teased at school for using traditional fidget toys. Today, they sell around 250,000 sensory tools a year to neurodivergent teens and adults worldwide.

This year, Kai was the only secondary school student invited to compete in an international TV show as part of the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards. Out of 1,400 competitors — all university students, he placed second in the world, taking home $40,000!

But the real win? The personal growth. Competing meant travelling overseas, filming long days, and navigating new environments, all challenging for someone with his profile. Kai handled it with maturity and humility, impressing producers and inspiring everyone he met.

Lucy has been one of Kai’s biggest fans since first meeting him around a decade ago — and to this day, he still sends her fidget toys to play with while she’s on air!

As Kai says, “I hope others that are neurodivergent like me will chase their dreams!”
