On Lucy and Kel for Breakfast today, we met Mina, a dad doing everything he can to hold his family together during a brutally tough season.
Mina shared that Christmas looks very different for them this year. With rising interest rates, unexpected expenses, and time off work to care for their little ones, every pay cycle has been slipping into the minus. Even small costs have felt overwhelming.
And the hardest part:
He told us they simply cannot afford a single present for their children this Christmas.
For Mina, who describes himself as “a giver, not a receiver,” nominating his own family was a huge step. But things had become so tight, he finally allowed himself to ask for help.
Kel spoke straight from the heart:
“As a father, I am so proud of you. Every child deserves a gift at Christmas. And it takes real courage to share your story.”
Today, we honoured that courage.
