This week on Lucy and Kel for Breakfast, we heard a beautiful and emotional story from Diana, who nominated her daughter, Daniela, for Taking Care of Christmas.
Earlier this year, Diana was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. As treatment began, Daniela left her job so she could care for her mum and help look after her little one. Then, in the middle of everything, she found out she was pregnant again, with her baby due on December 26.
With no work, a new baby on the way and a husband on an apprentice wage, the year became incredibly difficult. Diana shared how guilty she felt that her daughter had lost her to job to take care of her, but the moment Daniela joined the call, she pushed all that aside.
“I would do it all again,” she said. “Mum did so much for us growing up. Helping her was the least I could do.”
Then came the good news everyone needed to hear. Diana has finished treatment and is now in remission.
