“TheLight was one of those things that reminded me that God was still there, even when I couldn’t see Him.”

TheLight exists to be a positive voice in Melbourne, sharing hope, encouragement, and the love of Jesus every single day. As a not-for-profit, community radio station, TheLight doesn’t receive government funding and is limited in the amount of sponsorship it can air. Instead, TheLight is entirely community-funded through income from the generous support of individual listeners, and from carefully selected sponsorships.

That means when you give to TheLight, you’re not just supporting a radio station, you’re helping to change lives. Your generosity keeps uplifting music, real-life stories, and faith-filled content on air for hundreds of thousands of people across Melbourne.

It helps someone hear the right words at exactly the right moment. It reminds a struggling soul they’re not alone. And it ensures that this unique ministry continues to be a source of light in a world that often feels dark.

Thank you for standing with TheLight

We want to say a very big thank you. Because during the recent June on-air fundraising campaign…

Thanks to the incredible generosity of TheLight family, just under $1.5m was raised to keep TheLight shining brightly. What a significant achievement, especially in the current economic climate! And it’s only possible through the steadfast generosity of listeners just like you. And while we didn’t quite reach the overall target of $2m, we are deeply grateful for every gift, prayer, and word of encouragement received during the fundraising period.

Because 89.9 TheLight is entirely community-funded, every fundraising campaign is vital to keeping a continuing message of hope, faith and love on the air across Melbourne (and beyond).

Thankfully, the shortfall won’t have any immediate impact on TheLight’s broadcasting capacity… you’ll continue to hear uplifting music, encouraging stories and the good news of Jesus daily on 89.9 TheLight, TheLight Mix, TheLight Worship and our podcasts.

The funding shortfall does mean that there will most likely be some change to how we are able to deliver some regular programming and events in the months ahead. However, our goal is to overcome most (if not all) of the funding shortfall before the next campaign in November, through careful stewardship and continued fundraising.

Join us in Prayer

“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” Matthew 6:30-33 (MSG)

Would you join us in prayer, as we hold onto hope, and faith in a God who provides, often in unexpected ways. And pray for wisdom in the decisions that will be made as we continue to steward this ministry faithfully.

Support TheLight

It’s not too late! If you weren’t able to give during the recent campaign but feel led to help now, your support will make a very real difference as we continue to reach people to see every life alight with the love of Jesus… together.

Esther’s Story

“TheLight was one of those things that reminded me that God was still there, even when I couldn’t see Him.”

Esther’s journey has been incredibly tough. She experienced severe postnatal depression and was navigating a rocky season in her marriage. In her lowest moments, Esther considered ending her own life. But amid that darkness, something as simple as a radio station made a life-changing difference. She says TheLight became a constant source of hope, reminding her of God’s presence, His promises, and the fact that she wasn’t alone.

Esther’s story is powerful. It speaks to the heart of what TheLight exists to do, shine a light into people’s hardest moments.

Your support doesn’t just keep a station on-air; it helps save lives, restore hope, and remind people of God’s love when they need it most.

Agnes’ Story

One of TheLight listeners, Agnes, recently shared how much TheLight means to her. After losing her beloved husband, Agnes found herself in an incredibly dark and lonely place. But each day, she turned on the radio, and found comfort, peace, and a sense of companionship in the voices and music she heard. “It’s like you’re talking directly to me,” she told us. “TheLight has helped me so much, every single day.”

Agnes’s story is just one of many that remind us why TheLight matters. It’s not just background noise, it’s a lifeline. And it’s your support that makes it possible for people like Agnes to find hope in the hardest seasons of life.

Thank you for helping to keep that light shining.
